The Importance of Timing
With spring quickly turning into summer here at Ascarate Golf Course, we are heading into our peak season. Which means our tee-sheet is booked solid a week in advance from 6:30am until 10:30am, and on busier holiday weekends we can be booked well into the afternoon. In order to maximize the number of golfers we can fit on the course our “tee-sheet” runs on a strict 8-minute interval.
This means every 8-minutes a group or “foursome” tees off at their respective tee-time and begins their round. To ensure this happens efficiently and safely, we rely on the help of a Starter. This volunteer position is vital to the smooth operation of the tee-times as he is there to welcome our golfers to our facility as well as ensure that they tee-off on time and keep up the pace of play.
Over the busy Memorial holiday weekend, we had a total attendance of 356 golfers play our course, with 138 of those golfers joining us on Sunday morning. With our first tee-time being at sunrise, this means by the time most of us have rolled out of bed, our team has already sent close to 80 golfers out into the sunrise. On time, of course…
