Ascarate Park is the largest public-use recreational park in El Paso County and is dedicated to sports, picnicking, fishing and other recreational activities. The 400 acre park features a a 48 acre surface lake, lakeside boardwalk, fully-equipped aquatic center, playgrounds and picnic facilities, golf course, and the recent constructed Healing Garden. Ascarate Park provides a clean and safe environment for the recreational needs of the residents of El Paso.

PARK HOURS:

March - September: 5:30am - 11:00pm
October - March: 6:00am - 10:00pm

No gate fee 7 days/week (Special events may trigger gate fee)

*$5-$10 Parking fee during Special Events, $1-$ Walk-In Fee. CASH ONLY ACCEPTED.

$5 PARKING FEE Cash Only: Easter Weekend (Sat. & Sun.), Memorial Weekend (Sat.-Mon.), Independence Day**, Labor Day Weekend (Sat.-Mon.).
**July 4th and Sat. & Sun. when holiday falls on a Friday or Monday.

PARKING PASSES: Annual and 6-month parking passes are for sale for park visitors. Parking passes cover special event and holiday gate fees.

El Paso County Healing Garden

The El Paso County Healing Garden is a peaceful space dedicated to the 23 innocent lives taken on August 3, 2019 in El Paso, Texas. The Healing Garden is located inside Ascarate Park.

FIshing

Ascarate Lake boasts some of the best fishing in the Southwest. The lake is home to trout (winter), catfish (summer), largemouth bass, black bass, sun perch, blue gill, carp, shad, crappie hybrid sunfish and minnows. El Paso County Parks partners with the non-profit group Ascarate Fishing Club as they help teach kids, ages 3 to 16, the joys of fishing, ecological responsibility, and how to enjoy the outdoors.

Anglers are restricted to two fishing poles each, with a limit of five fish per visit to the lakeAdults 17 and older: Fishing License is required; fishing licenses can be obtained at most sporting good stores.

Ascarate Lake water is not potable.  Water is not for consumption. View the latest water test here.

Boating

It’s time to rediscover a tradition that has spanned over 60 years in El Paso County. The lake at Ascarate Park covers 48 surface acres, visitors can bring in their own kayaks and boats (trolley motors only), all occupants must wear a life vest at all times while in the water.

Ascarate Golf Course

Ascarate Golf Course is a 176.4 acre golf course located inside Ascarate Park. It features 27-holes featuring a “Main Course” and a “Delta 9” short hole course. Amenities include a lighted practice facility, driving range, putting greens, chipping greens, practice bunker, and a clubhouse café with a pro-shop.

Ascarate Golf Course is also home of the non profit organization The First Tee-Greater El Paso.

Ascarate Park Pavilion

Ascarate Park Pavilion is a great indoor and outdoor space to hold that special event. With the capacity of 295 people you can host a wedding, bridal shower, birthday party, or even a work training event all year round. Ascarate Aquatics Center

Ascarate Aquatics Center has a 50-meter Olympic size outdoor competition pool. It is one of the few Olympic-size competition pools in El Paso County.

The aquatic center also contains a small pool for children, a large slide, as well as two children’s slides. The aquatic center has an enclosed picnic area with BBQ grills which are shaded by tents as well as having two regulation sized volleyball courts, one sand and one grass.

The area is available to the public as well as for party rentals. The pool is suitable for competitive swim events and is centrally located within the park which makes it an attractive facility to schedule and host events.
