The El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to celebrate National “Kids to Parks Day” this Saturday, May 20th at Ascarate Park Pavilion. “Kids to Parks Day" is an annual day of outdoor exploration at local, state, and national parks and public lands across the country. The FREE family friendly event will include a kid fish derby, pet adoptions, and a kids creation corner! The Pavilion is located inside Ascarate Park at 6900 Delta.
Kid Fish Derby. The Ascarate Fishing Club will be hosting its seasonal Kid Fish Derby from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event is FREE for ages 3 years to 16 years old. Registration will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. inside the Ascarate Park Pavilion. Bait and fishing poles will be provided for participants. Parents will only need an I.D. to register. Pet Adoptions. Give a Pet a Forever Home! The Animal Welfare Department is committed to protecting pets, wildlife and livestock in the County of El Paso. While providing a low-cost and no fee wellness clinic to pets in our community in support of keeping families together. Spreading compassion and support. Adoptions will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Kids Creation Corner. The El Paso County Parks & Recreation staff will have a fun filled morning with creating an outdoor bird feeder, painting pet rocks, and a scavenger hunt. Other activities include a water ball toss, a giant inflatable ball, a dunk bucket and much more.
Water Safety at Ascarate Pool. May is national water safety month! El Paso County Aquatics invites the community to join in kicking off the summer with this water safety awareness event. There will be fun activities for the kids as well as share water safety tips on how to keep the whole family safe in and around the water. The event will begin from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ascarate Pool.
